BBS on Course for the Essen Motor Show

  • BBS SX in Platinum-Silver with diamond finish celebrates German premiere
  • Premium alloy wheel manufacturer awards BBS design prizewinner
  • Design Study 2017 to be shown in Essen

BBS, Germany’s premium alloy wheel manufacturer, is on course for the Essen Motor Show (26 November to 4 December 2016), where highlights of its product range will be presented in Hall 11 / Stand 120.

Opening day will see the German debut of the BBS SX in Platinum Silver with diamond cut finish in 18 to 20-inch sizes. Another highlight of Press Day (Friday, 25th November) will be the award ceremony for the BBS Design Competition 2016 whose winner will receive the 10,000 euro prize. In the coming months the winning design will undergo a technical feasibility study aimed at turning it into a production reality during 2017.

The SX design underpins the fact that BBS manufactures innovative alloy wheels that can be used all-year round. This fashionable five double-spoke one-piece wheel is now available in sizes up 20-inch diameter for a wide range of vehicles. The popular Crystal Black (lacquer) and Brilliant Silver finishes are now joined by Platinum Silver, featuring a shiny diamond cut effect.

“The Essen Motor Show is one of the most important automotive trade fairs open to the public, and is therefore a key event in our annual calendar,” explained Erwin Eigel, Vice President of Aftermarket Sales at BBS.

With Essen on ‘home turf’ in Germany, BBS wants to build on the outstanding success garnered earlier in the month in Las Vegas at SEMA, the largest aftermarket automotive show in the world. There, BBS of America Inc. was honoured with a Best Brand award for its wheels for the second year in a row, this time with the BBS Forged Magnesium centre-lock wheel for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS winning “Best New Wheel & Related Product.”

“We have had truly fantastic response from our partners worldwide, and a tremendous increase in BBS enthusiasts in the US, for which we have the team at BBS of America to thank,” said Erwin Eigel. “Our thanks and congratulations also go to BBS Japan and BBS Motorsport, both of whom had a hand in the development and production of the SEMA award winning wheel.”
