A modern wheel with classic overtones: The BBS CC-R debuts at SEMA in Las Vegas

  • Light, dynamic, original, and authentically BBS
  • New addition to the premium wheel manufacturers Performance Line
  • On sale in spring 2018

The wait is finally over! Premium wheel manufacturer BBS will premier the CC-R, a new interpretation of the classic BBS spoked wheel, on their stand (Upper South Hall, stand # 31277) at this year’s SEMA Show, which runs from the 31st of October to the 3rd of November, 2017.

“BBS will have a 600 square foot stand at SEMA, where we will be exhibiting our product range together with our colleagues from BBS USA,” says Erwin Eigel, Vice President IAM of BBS GmbH.

The world’s largest international trade show for car accessories and tuning, SEMA is an important fixture in the annual show calendar where companies roll out new products and meet with their dealers and potential customers.

BBS Japan will also debut new alloy wheel designs at SEMA BBS booth, and within a month, BBS GmbH will present the CC-R to its European audience at the 50th Essen Motor Show (2nd to 10th December 2017 / Hall 11, Stand A120).

The latest member of the BBS Performance Line, the CC-R is light, dynamic, original, and authentically BBS. Manufactured using the BBS flow forming technique, which marries low weight and high strength with efficient volume production, the CC-R features a distinctive 3D look whose visual depth comes from five graphite colored spokes overlaid by five diamond cut Y-shaped spokes. As the latter reach out towards the edges of the wheel rim, the CC-R benefits from the illusion of appearing even larger in diameter.

The unique styling of the CC-R and its high strength are a result of the spokes being CNC milled from the rear. Three casting tools per wheel diameter are used to achieve the distinctive curved spoke profile that gives this wheel design its fascinating visual depth as well as the offsets required to clear the big brakes fitted to high performance cars.

As with all flow formed BBS wheels the CC-R features the replaceable stainless steel rim protector that absorbs minor curb damage. The BBS logo, laser engraved KBA number, as well as the “Made in Germany” stamp are clearly visible on the inner rim of this new BBS family member, which clearly has the right stuff to become an instant classic.

When the CC-R goes on sale in the spring of 2018, BBS will have 19 and 20-inch diameters in five different widths available for best selling models from Audi S / RS, BMW M, and Mercedes AMG. For instance, popular high performance cars like the BMW M2, M3, M4 and M5 will be catered for, with 9.0J x 20, ET 25 (front) and 10.5J x 20-inch, ET 35 (rear) fitments.

The new lightweight wheel will also be available for the current Ford Mustang in 9.5J x 20 inch, ET 35 (front) and 10.5J x 20 inch, ET 45 (rear) dimensions. The range will quickly be expanded to encompass other best selling vehicles, with 21 and 22-inch sizes to suit large SUVs like the Audi Q7, BMW X5/6, Mercedes GLE, and Porsche Cayenne. Because of their fine graphite and diamond cut finish, BBS does not recommend CC-R wheels for heavy winter use.

About BBS:

BBS is the world's most famous light alloy wheel brand, a fact confirmed by multiple awards from leading German and international automotive magazines. Rigorous quality control processes from heat treatment to surface finishing ensure the quality of BBS products. In addition, every newly completed wheel is stored in a warm chamber after manufacture, a decisive factor for curing the aluminum till it reaches its peak strength. BBS uses only environmentally friendly paints, applied in a coating process that guarantees original equipment quality standards as set by leading premium car manufacturers.
